Preparing for your Surgery…
- Within five days prior to your date of service, you will receive our Payment Policy summarizing your insurance benefits and financial liability, as well as a Medication Checklist. Please list all medications that you are currently taking and all known or suspected allergies on the checklist.
- You may need to stop taking some medications, such as aspirin products and Coumadin several days prior to your procedure. Please consult your family physician or surgeon.
o If you have a latex allergy or history of Malignant Hyperthermia, inform your physician immediately.
- A staff member will call prior to your date of service to review your health history and the Medication Checklist. If you have not been called by 12 p.m. the day before your procedure, please call the center directly at 831-642-6200.
- Please complete all lab and/or EKG testing requested by your physician prior to the surgery date. Click here for a list of available locations to complete your testing.
- You should arrange for a family member or friend to transport you to and from the center. Complimentary parking is provided in front of the building.
- Make sure that an adult will be responsible for you at home for the first 24 hours after surgery.
The night before surgery…
- You should not eat or drink (not even chewing gum or water) after midnight unless our staff has told you otherwise.
- If you are able to continue your medication regiment, pills should be swallowed with as little water as possible.
- If you smoke, try to refrain from smoking the day before and the morning of your surgery.
Changes in your health: Contact your physician or the surgery center if you experience any change in your health – A minor temperature, cold, or cough should be reported. If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant, please notify your physician. Anesthesia and medication may be harmful to a developing fetus.
